Images :: Visit To Kota Kuala Muda, Kedah, Malaysia
“On Sunday, Jan 2, 2005, we were able to take two school vans to the kampung (village) at Tanjung Tokong Corner (in Penang) and load them full of clothes that were not needed by the people here on the island. We drove across the bridge to Kota Kuala Muda. I am glad we were able to donate the vans to get the clothing from Tanjung Tokong to this village on the mainland of Malaysia, north of Butterworth. It was encouraging to see the people quickly finding clothes to meet their needs. The police would not allow us into the affected area. But it is clear by the hundreds of displaced families living at the school, that there was a great amount of damage. We were able to find one family with five small children who took the childrens clothing and the first aid kit that the Steinkamp’s donated. They were very grateful for the helping hand. All the people warmly greeted us and openly showed their appreciation.”
